Senior citizens brace for Social Security freeze

By MATT SEDENSKY, Associated Press Writer Matt Sedensky, Associated Press Writer – Mon Oct 11, 7:30 pm ET

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Seniors prepared to cut back on everything from food to charitable donations to whiskey as word spread Monday that they will have to wait until at least 2012 to see their Social Security checks increased.
The government is expected to announce this week that more than 58 million Social Security recipients will go through a second straight year without an increase in monthly benefits. This year was the first without an increase since automatic adjustments for inflation started in 1975.

*What's your response to this?  My View would be that considering everything else that is going on in America with the economy & such, is it any surprise to any of us.

You all know my feelings on the so called "Shovel Ready" crap, well this just adds to it.  I am getting the feeling from all around that things AREN'T getting any better, like some would have us think.  More and more jobs are getting cut, case in point:

CINCINNATI -- Big cuts are looming for the Cincinnati Fire Department. WLWT has learned that the city wants to slice almost $11 million from the fire budget in the weeks ahead.

Having already absorbed several million dollars worth of reductions, rank-and-file firefighters are worried that deep personnel cuts will arrive before the holidays.

This is in Cincinnati, but it could/will be us soon.  Is it just me, of what the H--- is going on?  Wake UP AMERICA, and Keep your eye's and ear's open as to how OUR future progress is going....

Zoo Day at Bo's School

Today was Zoo day at Bowyn's school, so of course Grammy had to be there to take some pictures, so here they are.

The Hawk was very Talon-ted don't you think?

Maddy the turtle, really loved the kids and was a very fast mover and swimmer too.

Thanks for sharing.

Vacation 2010

We've been back for a few weeks now and I and in a stuck rut, and can't seem to get out of it.  So, today I have decided to share some of the pictures from our trip to Maine/Canada.  Enjoy!
We really did see a bear at the Elliot in Juniper, but I did not have the camera ready to capture him.
This is an actual rock.

First day of school

Today was Bowyn's 1st day of Pre-School.  How exciting.  At first when I dropped him off and they got him out of the car, he had that deer in headlights look, but he didn't cry, he just took her hand and walked inside.  They have a 2 way glass room inside, so I spent the entire time observing and he did great, and when he came out with his teacher to get back in the car he said "I'm coming back tomorrow".  He was all smiles and absolutely loved it.  After that we went to Waffle House to celebrate.

Trying out the Uniform

Well I'm back and it's been a long week too.  I had to work all week (filling in for someone on vacation), today off, then back to work for the weekend and Labor Day (time and a half, Priceless...).  So guess you could say I was trying out the Uniform.  Besides being called a "Door Man" and "Bell Hop", it did work out.  The only decisions to make were shoes and white shirt, other than that I was good to go.   The Blazer although made for some serious HOT flashes, so I kept the air conditioner on high and battled with the Seniors over the cooler air.  They are constantly cold and always bundled up, someone actually turned the air conditioner to the Heater when I wasn't looking, and I thought I would die.  I'm going to put a lock on that damn thing.  Well at least I've got a fan under my desk to help me somewhat.

You know after this week, I have come to the realization that it's way too hard to work Full time now, and I am SO pooped out by the time I get home.  Think I'll stick to Part time instead.
