Mantis

My favorite bug is a Praying Mantis.  They are just the coolest of all bugs, with their rotating head.  They remind me of a cat when they look at you, as if they are saying "What the H do you want?" I've been looking for one all season, so finally here she is.  Hmmm, how do I know it's a she?  Can't you see the missing head off of her mate!  Poor guy.  Bet he didn't see that coming...

I really miss my deck, and lately the only way I can enjoy it, is by looking out the window at it, while staying in the air conditioning.  At least I have that...

Got Mice!

After last years garden ordeal of fighting off those "Peskey Wabbits", from eating everything (we only had a few tomatoes).  This year we started off by dealing with gerbils biting the heads off  all the Sunflowers Bowyn had planted.  Problem solved, no more Sunflowers.   Now we have "Micefest".  Ric is like Bill Murray in Caddy Shack, the efforts he is putting into the battle.  He's whacked them, stuck them, Mia has caught them, and more keep coming back.  They love the cheese and peanut butter he puts out for them (so does Mia, shes gotten her nose snapped trying to retrieve it),  it's like their getting fat, dumb & happy and laughing all the while rubbing their little round bellies full of the feast he is putting out for them.  We are wearing out the traps so fast in our efforts to conquer this problem.   ARGH, will it ever end!
To the store we go to buy more traps, and the cashier says,  "Got mice!"

Wish him luck!

My favorite gas station turned into a Shell overnight.  Now what!

Zoom Lens

Check out what I captured  while playing with my Zoom Lens.

Like early Spring, we have another nester, which found it's way into the "Nix Tree".  We've had this tree for 23 years, and carry it in and out every year.  It's almost too big to get in the house now.  Hope you enjoy the show.

Shampoo warning!!

I don't know WHY I didn't figure this out sooner!!!! It's the shampoo I use in the shower!
When I wash my hair, the shampoo runs down my whole body, and (duh!)
printed very clearly on the shampoo label is this warning,
"FOR EXTRA VOLUME AND BODY."
NO wonder I have been gaining weight!!!
Well!
I have gotten rid of that shampoo and I am going to start using Dawn dish soap instead.
Its label reads, "DISSOLVES FAT THAT IS OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE."
Problem solved!
If I don't answer the phone...I'll be in the shower!

Soap

I've been filling in at work for people on vacation, so it's been Housekeeping lately.  First of all, they deserve soooooo much respect.  That is hard ass work.  I look like a stinky old worn out dish rag by the time I get home, and fall asleep by 6:00.  Okay, so anyways, while changing the bedding in one of the apartments the other day, I came across a bar of soap under the sheets...  Strange thing I know, well I left it there figuring there must be some reason for it (don't know what it could be though).  Well I asked around, one girl said there was another couple that did that as well, but know one knew why.  So I gooled it (http://www.ehow.com/about_5556893_soap-cure-leg-cramps.html)
It's great for Leg Cramps.  So of course I had to try it, First night I psyched myself out, so it was a no go, but hey it's working now.  Wow, who would have guessed.  Those old remedies really do work.

Random Thought...

Q:   Do you know what's the worse thing for someone who's out of wine?

A:   Election Day!

Beaver Bites

Have you ever been witness to a Beaver damn?  These little guys are the best construction workers and engineers on the earth.  They are absolutely amazing, and the work they can do as well as damage (flooding), WOW.  My Dad just got back from a quick trip to my Uncle's camp in Juniper (Canada), and here is proof of just how hungry they were this winter.

PS) Isn't he the cutest?  Love you Dad, thanks for posing...

Mini street car village

I have (used to have...) this Beautiful Thomas Kinkade Mini Cottage with fishing pond.  It had a light in it, which would give it that special Thomas Kinkade Painter of Light glow.  Well recently a certain little guy has decided that this perfect little cottage and pond would be great for his Micro Machine cars.

Doesn't that just make the perfect little bridge?  You have to admit, that is pretty smart.

Tweet's away...

We are now empty nester's.  Yep,  the birds have flown the coop, aka nest.

Tweet's alive

Just wanted to give you a"Birds Eye View" of the Tweet's.  Talk about over crowding, they hardly have enough room to move these days.  It's just a matter of time before they become "Empty Nesters"...

Hmm, wonder what that's like?

Feeding time for the Tweet's

This had to be so under cover and stealth like, but I think I managed to get it.

Thought I would share a few of the images I've taken lately.  Hope you like them.

Tweet's update...

Just to let you know that I sacrificed life and limb just to get this picture.  Every time we go out our door/garage/or anywhere, we get dive bombed by Momma Bird.  It's just like Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds".  Enjoy!

Confession...

One of my great friend's, mother passed away recently, whom by the way was an amazing women and we are proud to have known her.  My confession is this:  that in my own state of confused head that I neglected to really be the friend I feel I should have been.  We did go and see her in hospice before she passed, which was later that day, and we are so thankful that we did.  It's the fact that for my own self I did not go further and do more for my dear friend through this difficult time.  This goes to show, that we can get so wound up in our own private worlds, that sometimes we forget what's going on outside of ourselves.  I just wanted to say I'm sorry for not being the kind of friend that I feel I should have been at that particular time.

My Mom came for a visit on April 10th for a few days.  While I was working on the 11th, she and Jess went shopping for the day (poor Mom).  Uck, it was raining that day just like it has been every day since I think.  So while everyone was gone, a Robin decided to make a nest in a very unexpected place which is right next to our front door.  Make sure you look closely at exactly what she made her next on.
So today, while we were out we had two egg's hatch.  What a wonderful experience for all of us, but especially for Bowyn.   We'll keep you up to date on our Hatchings.   Tweet, Tweet....

Bowyn & Grammy take a trip

So can you guess where we went? Well here's the kicker, notice what's behind him in this picture! It was a jaw dropping experience for him and Grammy's wallet...
